RPG / CASE STUDY 06
Structural Defects
& Building Stability
Investigation and remediation planning for cracking, movement and structural risk in a commercial building.
Royce Projects Group was engaged after structural cracking and movement concerns were identified across a commercial building. This anonymised case study demonstrates RPG’s role in coordinating structural investigations, defining risk and developing a practical remediation pathway.
KEY OUTCOMES
Structural integrity assessed through coordinated investigation
Load path and defect risks clarified
Rectification strategy targeted to the actual defect profile
Owner confidence improved through a structured engineering response
THE CHALLENGE
The owner required clarity around the seriousness of structural cracking, the likely cause of movement and the level of remediation needed. The project needed to remain grounded in evidence rather than assumption.
WHAT WE DID
RPG coordinated intrusive and non-destructive investigations, worked with structural engineers to assess cracking behaviour and load path issues, and supported the development of a staged remediation strategy covering repair and strengthening works.
OUTCOME
The project moved from uncertainty to a defined remediation framework, improving understanding of the building’s structural condition and providing a clear path to rectification.
